Preparing Pallets for Safe & Efficient Transport – TurboSpeed Roeselare
First, choose the right pallet size for your shipment. Standard Euro-pallets (1200 x 800 mm) fit most vehicles and loading docks. Make sure the pallet is clean, dry and undamaged. A broken or uneven pallet can compromise the stability of your load.
Next, stack your goods evenly. Place heavier items at the bottom and lighter items on top. Avoid overhanging boxes or irregular shapes, as they can shift during transport. Fill gaps with dunnage or void-fill materials to reduce movement.
Wrapping is essential. Use high-quality stretch wrap to secure the load tightly to the pallet. Wrap several times around the base and up to the top, making sure the wrap covers all edges. For extra security, apply strapping or banding.
Label your shipment clearly. Attach shipping labels on at least two sides and include handling instructions if needed (“Fragile,” “This Side Up,” etc.). For international shipments, ensure customs documents are accessible in a document pouch.
Finally, communicate special requirements to your carrier. If you need express delivery, temperature control or ADR compliance, tell TurboSpeed when you book your shipment. Proper preparation combined with our dedicated van service ensures your pallets arrive safely and on time.
